Visiting lecturer and professor at universities in all continents, Member of the Board of NGOs and private companies in Asia, USA and Latin America Gunter Pauli is once again key note speaker at WEEC.

Actually Gunter Pauli already attended the 7WEEC in Morocco (2013) and it was delightful to attend his lesson. Now, for the 10th edition of the World Environmental Education Congress in Bangkok (Thailand) Gunter Pauli will be again in the number of our esteemed guests.

He has advised governments, entrepreneurs and industry leaders on how to implement breakthrough innovations that permits society to better respond to the basic needs of all, starting with water, food, housing, health and energy. He works with what is locally available, focuses on the generation of value.

He founded the “Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives” (ZERI) at the United Nations University in Tokyo, and subsequently established The Global ZERI Network as a foundation, redesigning production and consumption into clusters of industries inspired by natural systems.

He is dedicated to design and implement a society and industries, which respond to people’s needs using what is locally available. His visionary approach supported by dozens of projects on the ground landed him an invitation to present his cases at the World Expo 2000 in Germany. There he constructed the largest bamboo pavilion in modern days presenting 7 breakthrough initiatives.

Gunter wishes to inspire children to become entrepreneurs, responding to the basic needs of all with what is locally available. As an entrepreneur he created several companies and his book THE BLUE ECONOMY describes the businesses of the future. Gunter has an MBA, is professor at several universities, and he is father of 5 children.

Mr. John Hardy

Principle of Greenest School in Bali

John Hardy is renown for having unconventional ideas and making them happen. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art & Design, John set off to travel the world and settled in Bali.

In 1975, he started a small jewelry business that grew into an international company. In 2007, John stopped working in the company to dedicate his time on advocating for and building a more sustainable world through education and design.

As his first major project, he and his wife Cynthia conceived and created the Green School in Bali, Indonesia to deliver pioneering education for the future with a curriculum based on the Three Frame Day by Alan Wagstaff. The school commits to providing internationally recognized academic education that prepares the students with the ability to be competitive and successful in the wider world. The uniqueness of the school lies in the integration of traditional subjects, creative arts and green studies wrapped in rich layers of experiential, environmental, and entrepreneurial learning. John spoke at TED Global about the Green School and the USGBC awarded the school with the 2012 Greenest School on Earth award.

Today, the school has a student body of approximately 500 from over 40 countries.

In addition to the Green School, in 2009, John teamed up with his daughter Elora to create award winning Green Village and Ibuku.

Raquel Fratta Bordon

Moises Bertoni Foundation, a renowned NGO in Paraguay

Raquel Fratta Bordon, is the guiding angel of the Forest Reserve School Mbaracayú. It is an all girls boarding school inside the UNESCO Biosphere of Paraguay where the girls are trained to become the custodians of the forest.

The Forest Reserve School Mbaracayú received the ZAYED award and also the BBVA award and is on track to demonstrate how girls when given the opportunity can change their world.

Raquel has extensive experience working in civil society organizations at the local level and international serving vulnerable populations from young adolescent girls to indigenous communities in rural areas.

She currently works at Moises Bertoni Foundation, a renowned NGO in Paraguay focusing on sustainable development, nature conservation, and education. She leads the area of Initiatives for the New Economy where she designs and implements educational projects focusing on women's empowerment, entrepreneurship, and territory development - integrating social, environmental and economic value.

Mr. Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi

President and CEO of Thai Beverage Public Co., Ltd., Thailand’s leading and one of Southeast Asia's largest beverage companies

Keynote Speaker

Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi was appointed President and CEO of Thai Beverage Public Company Limited in 2008 following its listing in Singapore Exchange in 2006. Under his Vision 2020 to become the leading total beverage company in ASEAN, the company has acquired Oishi Group, Sermsuk PLC, Fraser & Neave Ltd, Myanmar Distillery Company, Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation and now owns a variety of restaurants from Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Western cuisine, including the recent acquisition of 252 outlets of KFC in Thailand.

His recent undertaking has been to support the government’s “Pracharath Rak Samakkee”, a public-private partnership programme to help the economic development of local communities in the areas of agriculture, community tourism and product value creation. Thapana is the Founder and Chairman of C asean, a social enterprise to promote ASEAN connectivity, business and cultural promotions for young entrepreneurs. He is also the Chairman of Foundation for Institute of Social Enterprise Development (FINSEDT) and Thai-UK Business Leadership Council.

Under Thapana’s leadership, ThaiBev was awarded the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for Emerging Markets in 2016 and World Level in 2017.

Thapana has a Bachelor of Business Management (Finance) and a Master of Science Administration in Financial Economics from Boston University, USA.
